How My Dogs Play, But Not Off Leash

Just a quick post about using a long leash.

Why should you use one?

When should you use one?

One great reason to use one is to let your dog have fun while still under your control:

Camping

Playing in an open space

At the beach

On a hike

Another great reason is to train a recall without fear of your dog running off and doing her own thing.

And guess where you can do that:

Camping

Playing in an open space

At the beach

On a hike

I think you get the picture.

I’m providing 3 different style choices, for 3 different needs.

1) A 30ft rope style training leash with a padded handle (helps you not get rope burn).  It has a swivel hook to help reduce twisting of the rope.  It comes with a carabiner that you can use for all sorts of reasons, but one could be as an extra buckle to the flat collar just in case the swivel hook isn’t clipped properly.  And they want you to contact them if you have any problems.  ==>Get It Here<==

2) A 50 foot, bright orange (easy to see) leash with a padded handle that comes with a drawstring backpack.  This one comes with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty and is made in the USA.  ==>Get It Here<==

3) A 66-foot braided nylon rope leash with a copper clasp.  The copper clasp holds up better if you are spending time at the beach or lake.  It is completely washable (air dry).  ==>Get It Here<==

Of course, you can always make your own out of sturdy rope of poundage suitable for the size of your dog.  Make sure you use at least a brass clasp if it’s going to be used around water.

We have a huge, vacant field just behind where we live.  We often use a long line and let the dogs enjoy themselves back there.  We bring an assortment of treats to reinforce a strong recall.

What would you use a long leash for?  Let me know in the comments.

Peace and Joy,

Jennifer
